Fresh, original and useful. Welcome to fisheye design

A photographer’s fisheye lens captures a wider than normal view. In the same way, we look at the broader possibilities within your brief to create something fresh and original.

Over the past 10 years, we’ve worked in partnership with book publishers throughout Australia and New Zealand, as well as other studios and businesses, to create designs that engage and attract their target audience.

Our focus is always on useful design that is both effective and stimulating.

You may have seen our work on book covers, in museums and libraries, in print advertising and even on stage sets.  We especially enjoy designing for the youth market, where we get the chance to really stretch our skills in order to appeal to this visually literate and often highly sceptical group.

What makes us different?

  • Specialists in illustration, we take an organic approach to the initial design stages and often sketch by hand before applying our ideas to software.
  • With so many book designs under our belt, we understand the importance of seamlessly integrating text with images, and how fast a book cover needs to work to achieve that initial impact on the viewer.
  • Finally, as a small design studio, we’re always focused on your needs and provide a highly personal service.

Combining expertise and inspiration

Jane Cameron began fisheye design in Sydney in 1999. Her design background includes fashion, corporate identity, and trade, educational and children’s book publishing.

Jane has taught graphic design to Foundation students at Enmore Design Centre, and was invited to be a judge at the Australian Publishers Association Book Design Awards in 2006. Jane also currently teaches part time in design and art theory/practice at the Wentworth Institute, as part of a Degree in Interactive Multimedia.

Our studio is now in a beautiful warehouse office in Stanmore, close to Sydney’s CBD. For those who knew us when we were above the bookshop in Annandale, it has closed and is now a Real Estate agent. Sign of the times …
